+++ Warning +++ - this post contains full nudity - please leave this page if likely to be offended. This was a studio shoot, only my second time shooting in a studio, with a very lovely model by the name of Karen. Subject for the evening was Bodyscape & Art Nude. Karen was fabulous to work with and was very down to earth with a friendly demeanour. I thoroughly enjoyed the evening and hope to do another like this in the future, ideally with Karen again. If you're a first time visitor to my site, or haven't visited for a while, clicking on the images will pop them up in a larger size. I hope you enjoy the images. This rather lovely little church in a wonderful setting has been on my "to do" list for quite some time. Not so long ago I ticked it off the list.
I had gone to Sheffield to meet up with a friend for a days photography with the specific aim of adding to my collection of street art by my favourite artist of the genre : Phlegm along with other good quality examples from other artists. We had been to some rather outlying parts of Sheffield and wandered well off the beaten track to get the images I sought before making our way into more central parts of the city. We were walking along a street in, what looked like, quite a trendy area when I spotted this lady and I thought she looked striking, amazing and rather beautiful. I instantly knew I wanted to photograph her. However I am a significantly shy person and not the most confident in the world either (those who know me well will know this). Could I push beyond my comfort zone and bring myself to ask her ? We walked to the next alley way to shoot some more art and on the way out I told my friend I wanted to shoot this lady and was going to go and ask her (gulp ... and increased heart rate) as I turned around two other people walked up to her and started talking to her !! Grrr , oh great make it even harder for me to push beyond my comfort zone - I turner to my friend and she just smiled and laughed. So I asked if we had more art further along and she said yes and we went to the next alley and took shots there. We turned around and headed back to the car. By the time we reached the lady the other two people were still talking to her. I knew I'd really regret it if I didn't ask. So I plucked up courage and went for it before I could bottle out and asked if she'd feel comfortable with me taking some photos of her. She was very obliging and is a really lovely and interesting person. Many, many thanks Yas for letting me take the photos of you and it was a real pleasure meeting you. x Yasmina is a successful artist and you can view her website, please do take the time to take a look, here. All shots taken with a Canon Eos-m mirrorless camera in Aperture automatic mode at f9. ISO 400 and various focal lengths and shutter speeds.

If anyone viewing would like to see ALL the images you can see all 214 of them Here or here. Built in 1884 to provide water storage for the Leyland area the reservoir was decommissioned in 1992. It provided locals with water for 108 years and in it's heyday it stored up to 300,000 Gallons of water. English heritage twice turned down applications to have it listed stating it was "Neither a rare nor an exceptional example of it's type" It was previously owned by united utilities until March 2013. It will shortly be demolished to make way for 14 new homes. With eleventy billion people milling round the place it was impossible to get many shots without several people in shot, but here's the images I managed to grab. The developers opened up the reservoir for public tours for a two week period before the demolition begins. On the first Sunday of the tours some 2000 people visited between 1000 and 1600. April 20th saw me head to Llanberis to meet up with some fellow members of a Photography Forum for a days landscape Photography. The famous "Pete's Eats" was the meeting point where a large and tasty breakfast was consumed and options discussed. This had all been arranged by a nice chap by the name of Stu - thanks Stu - who had a few options he suggested and we were all happy to go with his suggestions. We were incredibly lucky that we had a full day of glorious sunshine. It was a most enjoyable day, Lunch at Pete's Eats, and nice to meet up with some of the guys off the Forum. I have very recently embraced HDR and this was one of the first shoots where I started using this technique. It can oft look a bit surreal and cartoon like and is not easy to get spot on for a beginner so hopefully as I use it more, and read up on it, my results will start to look more natural. Hope you like the photos. I had some very lovely light on the Friday and Saturday evenings between 1900 and 2000 which gave me an incredibly golden glow for some of the shots. Whitby is a lovely fishing town and I hope my shots give you a taste of this lovely place. Hi all and thanks for taking a look at my pictures from the April 2013 whitby goth weekend. To everyone who allowed me to take a photo of them thank you very, very much and if you see a pic of yourself and you'd like a copy please do get in touch. If you want to see all the shots taken, a mere 280 this time - hey it was over 400 last time, you can do so here. The event was, as it was the two previous times, a wonderful example of people creativity, inventiveness and sense of fun. Lots of wonderful people in fabulous outfits enjoying the weekend. well without further ado a slideshow to give a flavour of the images and then the images themselves - as always clicking on the pictures will open them in larger size. We drove past this place on a day out and nipped into the grounds briefly. On getting home I looked up information on the place and was most intrigued. It is a wonderful building and is someone's home - a most intriguing if somewhat eccentric lady by the Name of Cornelia Bayley . Cornelia had a very successful and glamorous career as an antiques dealer in Notting Hill. She fell in love with the building and borrowed £70,000 to buy it - total cost £75,000. It was at the time a ruin with trees growing inside the walls etc. Cornelia has spent many years restoring the building. She opens her home for 3 hours on Sunday afternoons for tours. You can read more about Plas teg Here. Also this fabulous episode of country house rescue where business woman Ruth Watson meets Cornelia to try and assist in raising funds to help with it's restoration and up keep. I strongly urge you to watch this - it is most interesting and Cornelia is a very interesting character. |
