Earlier in the year I paid a visit to lincoln to experience and photograph a steam punk event. Whilst there I paid a brief visit to Lincoln Cathedral and a very attractive and impressive one it is too. There are also some shots around Lincoln Castle

There is an organisation called the Churches Conservations Trust which basically rescues and restores historic churches at risk. They have many churches dotted throughout the country and this one lies high up in Oldham, atop a hill with wonderful views around and in a rather remote area with a pub across the road and not much else there. I have been there a few times now and one time stayed till 20 to midnight as I watched a bat perform it's aerobatics in the church graveyard. So there I was sat on the wall in a church graveyard at almost midnight with a bat flying around me ... I was half expecting a man with a dark cloak and sharp teeth to appear. It is a wonderful little church in a lovely peaceful setting. Late June 2011 saw me heading south to spend some time with my brother and sister in Law in Folkestone. Some time before this I had become aware of a church in Hythe which contained, in a crypt, a rather large collection of bones and skulls - in excess of 2000 skulls and 8000 thigh bones. I had seen some images of this and from the moment I first found out about it I knew I had to see this for myself and take some photographs. From that moment on I could not wait for my chance to visit this fascinating place. As the time approached I contacted the church in advance to check times and that all would be Ok to take some photographs. all was well and I was made aware of a church party due that day so I knew what time frame I had to take shots of the church itself. The church in question is : St. Leonards in Hythe, kent : Link here Here you can read all about the bones and theories of their origins. I found it a very fascinating place to visit and to photograph. I edited the images a couple of days ago and found, very much to my surprise, that I was more affected by the images than actually seeing the skulls "in the flesh" (excuse the unfortunate choice of words). It seemed more gruesome seeing the images and I actually did have some discomfort in the pit of my stomach. I found this quite strange and surprising. Anyway time to share the images: Thanks for looking, I hope you found the images interesting and please do leave some comments.
